Sentimental – adj. marked or governed by feeling, sensibility, or emotional idealism
To me, handwritten letters are the image of sentimentality. Handwriting has so much more meaning behind it – it changes with your emotion, with who you’re writing to or what you’re writing for. It’s personal.
Even though I was writing these letters for real, I chose the stamps with flowers and “love” written on them, because love is a feeling, and flowers are so closely associated with feelings as well – that’s why flowers have meanings.
I think the light sepia tone and dark outer vignette give this photo the feel of something a little old, too. Because letter writing, and handwriting in general, is becoming outdated. But I think that’s part of what makes it so special.
P.S. For those of you who are curious, that is not a real address. The roommate of the person I was mailing it to gave me a completely wrong address. I just got it back in the mail today.
